Free invoice checker
Is this invoice right? Check it free.
We read every line and check the maths, the GST and the ABN, in about ten seconds.
What it checks.
Four things the invoice alone can prove. Whether a price is right takes the prices you agreed with the supplier.
Line arithmetic
Quantity times unit price against the line total, on every line we can read.
Invoice totals
The lines plus GST against the total at the bottom. If they don't line up, we show you both numbers and say we can't tell whose error it is.
GST
GST that isn't more than ten per cent of what it's charged on.
ABN
An ABN printed on a tax invoice, and its check digits pass. Whether it's registered is on ABN Lookup, which takes a minute.
A worked example.
| On the invoice | What it says | What the check says |
|---|---|---|
| 100mm PVC DWV pipe, 6 m length | What it says: 10 × $42.00 = $420.00 | What the check says: Quantity times price matches the line total. |
| 100mm PVC bend, 88 degrees | What it says: 12 × $18.50 = $222.00 | What the check says: Matches. |
| Solvent cement, 500 ml | What it says: 4 × $24.50 = $98.00 | What the check says: Matches. |
| Subtotal, GST and total | What it says: $740.00 + $74.00 = $814.00 | What the check says: The lines plus GST match the total. |
| GST | What it says: $74.00 | What the check says: Ten per cent of $740.00, so not over. |
| Supplier's ABN | What it says: Printed on the tax invoice | What the check says: An ABN is printed and it passes the check digits. |
Had the bend been printed as $232.00, the page would show what it read (12 × $18.50 comes to $222.00) beside what the invoice says, and ask you to hold it against your copy, because it can't tell a misread from a mistake on the invoice. Nothing else is judged until the reading is right.
Questions.
Is the invoice checker really free?
Yes, with no account and no card. It checks up to 5 invoices an hour on this page, each up to 4MB, reading the first five pages, because every check costs a real read of the document.
Do you keep my invoice?
No. The file is held in memory, checked and gone. To read it we pass it to Microsoft's document service in Australia and ask it to delete its reading as soon as we have it, and nothing from the document is written to a database here.
Can it tell me if I'm being overcharged?
Not on its own: that needs the prices you agreed with the supplier. With a free CostCode account (20 invoices a month, every check), each line is checked against the price list in force on the invoice date, and by default a line is held when it's at least $25 and 3% over.
Can I check several invoices at once?
Yes. Drop two or more from one supplier and, beside each invoice's own checks, the page shows how each item's price moved between them, what they charged on top of the goods, and how long they gave you to pay. Each file counts as one check.
